These photos were all taken around the centre of Valparaiso, Chile – mostly on the hill behind the main square. There was a graffiti festival on Cerro Polanco around the East side of the city, which is recommended as another good spot to check out – if you can find it!
This is a city where the locals like painting the walls so much they have run out of space and started to paint the roofs! Most of these pieces are legal pieces, agreed by the owners to prevent their walls being covered in tags.
If you are heading to Valparaiso, and want to check out some street art, then heading to the last metro stop (where the port is) and heading through the main square, up the hill towards the streets Urriola and Cummings, is a great way to start. Around here you will also find some great restaurants and cafes.
Colourful staircase just off Urriola
Painted building front on Urriola
Whole building side. This took months to complete and they had to use scaffolding to complete the whole wall.
